Thank you for taking time to consider becoming a sponsor of the Sergeant Alfred B. Hilton Memorial, to be erected in Millard Tydings Memorial Park in Havre de Grace.

Our Committee has been diligently working since 2016 to raise funds in support of this effort, and your help is needed to bring our vision to completion.

We have secured a location for the memorial, thanks to the City of Havre de Grace, and we have received funding from Harford County Government, a Maryland State Bond Bill and the Maryland State African American Heritage Preservation Program.

We are still seeking funding to meet our goal of $150,000.

Sergeant Alfred B. Hilton made the ultimate sacrifice while serving as National Color Bearer with Company H, 4th U.S.C.T., during the Battle of New Market Heights (aka Chaffin’s or Chapin’s Farm) on September 29, 1864. You can read about the U.S.C.T. on this page of our site.

We have been striving to appropriately recognize and honor this true American hero, and we hope you will join us in honoring Harford County’s only native-born Medal of Honor recipient.

• Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton Medal of Honor Level Sponsor: $5,000
• Brigadier General Level Sponsor: $2,500
• Corporal Level Sponsor: $1,000

All funds raised will be used to design and erect the memorial honoring Sgt. Alfred B. Hilton. All sponsors will have their names and logos (if applicable) displayed for all of 2021.
